Unamused that this tarot card came out the day our Unamused that this tarot card came out the day our Supreme Court decided that bodily autonomy is somehow not a fundamental right in the United States. 🙃

But I’m going to try to put a pin in that outrage for a second and talk about what the Death card might mean when it comes up in a tarot reading. It means letting go. An ending. A chapter closing so that a new one can begin. Sometimes this sense of loss is not of our choosing. Those are the worst. Today feels like one of those days.

But recently I have been thinking more about the other times, when we are the ones who initiate the release. And while these voluntary activations of Death energy can feel freeing, relieving, even exhilarating, there is often a lot of fear and resistance before we make it to that decisive point. And even afterwards, when we thought we’d be popping champagne or maybe sleeping more soundly, we can be left with a sense of grief and loss. That’s why dumpers feel just as bad as dumpees sometimes! And that’s why graduating high school to finally leave Loserville for university can play out quite differently than we had imagined. The Death card signifies this natural ambivalence beautifully by including both fear, resistance, and sadness on the one hand as well as hope and brightness on the other hand.

And what I think is an important lesson to learn over time and with experience is that this grief we may feel doesn’t mean we made the wrong decision. All endings are sad or difficult in some way and to some degree. They signify a transition, and change can be hard! But just because it’s hard and doesn’t feel fantastic at every point along the way does not necessarily mean our intuition has led us astray or that we made a mistake. It does not mean we will not survive - and even flourish beyond our wildest dreams - on the other side.

💛
Y’all I literally NEVER read forewords to books. Y’all I literally NEVER read forewords to books. They aren’t even written by the author I paid money to read and I always skip them. BUT I didn’t skip Jean Houston’s foreword in my copy of The Science of Mind (by Ernest Holmes) because I have devoured every inch of that book multiple times now, and now I’m wondering if I should be paying more attention to book forewords! 😅

Anyway, she sums up the Science of Mind (and all of the other manifesting/power of thought stuff that sprung from it over the decades) that “evolution” - a change in our external reality - only occurs after “involution” - a corresponding and preceding internal change - which in effect means “OUR MINDS ARE STAR GATES.”

Say what? Translation: Through our thoughts, our perceptions, our beliefs and the way we respond to people and circumstances, we manifest the world around us. If we change our thoughts, we can change our reality.

We’ve probably all heard that by now. But how much cooler is it to say that our minds are like portals to another dimension - a star gate to another universe where we are actually experiencing the world as our highest and best self? And we have the power to open this star gate any time we want through our thoughts.

Anyway this is my new manifesto byeeeee 👽✨
Today is the first day of summer, the longest day Today is the first day of summer, the longest day of the year. After today, each day gets shorter than the one before it and the nights get longer. As the harbinger of the hot bright sexy showiness of summer (and the cooler darker season that follows) the Solstice is an opportunity to do two things:

☀️🌻🌞 Celebrate how far we’ve come over this first half of the year.

😅🧭🎯 Take stock and recalibrate if necessary. Because winter is coming and we don’t want to be caught off guard.

Below are 4 TAROT JOURNALING questions perfect for the summer solstice week. And if you’re on my email subscriber list, keep an eye out for an exclusive SOLSTICE TAROTSCOPE just for you! 🌞

🔥 What have you been enjoying this year that has been helping you grow in some way? What is currently helping you shine, expand, and take up space? How can you amplify these activities or habits?

🔥 What are your favorite ways to relax and play? To unwind and do things just for the sake of doing them? To seek sensory pleasure and comfort? How can you incorporate more of those things into each week for the remainder of the year?

🔥 How can you slow down and appreciate the moments of your life? The heat of summer tends to slow our bodies down anyway - appetites sometimes wane, speed diminishes, we grow tired faster. How can you embrace that natural phase of this cycle instead of fight against it?

🔥 What hasn’t been serving your growth this year? What did you think would work but simply hasn’t, and what harmful or distracting habits may you have picked up along the way? How can you remedy these situations?

SOLSTICE BLESSINGS. 🐚🦀
I’ve been feeling vaguely stuck for some time no I’ve been feeling vaguely stuck for some time now. But that’s okay - It happens to the best of us! You know how I know that? Because there’s a tarot card for it!

I still hate the feeling of being stuck, don’t get me wrong. But I know it will pass - that some solution or inspiration or genius idea or change in perspective will present itself eventually. It still sucks to be in this stage, especially if you’re as impatient as I am. But again, if this stuckness every now and then wasn’t perfectly normal and totally and completely part of life, there 👏🏼wouldn’t 👏🏼 be 👏🏼 a 👏🏼 tarot 👏🏼 card 👏🏼 for 👏🏼 it!

And I want to focus on that for a second, because that’s a huge part of the therapeutic and expansive gift of tarot. Before you even get any advice on what to do about it or how to make something pass or go away, the fact that tarot sees and holds us in joy, in confusion, in victory, in defeat, in super bright and even super dark moments (Oh hi, 3 of Swords! How’s it hangin, Tower? 9 of Swords - long time no see!) IS MAGICAL. ✨

If there’s a tarot card for that, you’re not alone! And there’s a tarot card for everything. 💖💖💖

If you’ve been dabbling with tarot - maybe you were gifted a deck and once in awhile you pull a card and read its meaning from the guidebook - but want to go deeper, TAKE MY TAROT CLASS!
